Laporte Learning The Ropes; #88 Scott Laporte Tests At Flamboro

Scott approached Dave Didero after our first race at Flamboro Speedway and expressed an interest in the series, as well buying the 24 car and the bulk of their equipment. A deal was made and Scott was to take delivery of the car at season’s end. Spending the rest season with the team, he quickly picked up on things and what he would need to do to run well in the series. The “Kid” impressed Dave with his passion to learn and move onto competing in the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series.

Dave Didero arranged a test session on September 22nd that went really well and Scott become comfortable in the ex #24 car logging over 200 laps and finishing up the day with some solid lap times. At the next test Scott will work on his entry and exits with the help of Brennan Didero which should put him in the low 16 second bracket at Flamboro.

Dave Didero added: it’s great to bring along a young man in this series that can only add benefits to all of us as a group. He’s clean cut, polite and wanting to go fast in a race car – what more could you ask for.

From Scott LaPorte:

It was great to be back in a car.

“After taking a two year sabbatical from racing to build my landscaping business, Unique LandEscapes and Design, I couldn’t wait to finally be able to get in this car and get back on the track.

The first test day went well and with the fantastic help of Dave Didero, the transition felt great. I was able to get a feel of the car and turned some pretty good lap times. I’m really happy with the way the car handled and I’m confident that my crew and I will be able to make further adjustments with some more practice time.

I met Dave and the MAM race team at the beginning of this season and was able to get to most of the races this season to learn more about the car and the series. The fact that the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup series doesn’t race every weekend makes this a great fit with my business. I was really impressed with how everyone in the series pulls together to help each other if needed, it makes for a lot of good, friendly competition.

I’m looking forward to joining this group of great racers and also looking forward to running for Rookie of the Year in 2016! Watch for me in the Unique LandEscapes #88!”
